Dexter

Working for the cable company, I meet a lot of people from different networks. A few weeks ago Showtime stopped by to promote their new season of shows. One of them was a new one called Dexter. Now at first it sounded very cool and intriguing. But I already watch my max amount of shows with like 3 more new seasons of ones I already watch in December/January so I never bothered with remembering when it was going to be on. Well I just happen to be checking out the movie channels one night when I noticed one of the episodes were on. Something caught my attention long enough for me to stay on it for a min and that’s all it took for me to be hooked. Lucky for me that weekend they were showing the past 5 episodes back to back. So I set the DVR to record and within a week I was all caught up. Man am I glad I ended up watching it. It’s such a great show.

First off, it’s in that style of show that I love. Not sure what it’s suppose to be called but it’s one continues story the whole way with one little story per episode. Each one leaving you with another piece of the puzzle and wanting more. A quick synopsis of the plot: Dexter is a blood spatter analysis for the Miami Police Department and in his spare time he cleans up the streets by getting rid of those that the law can’t touch or have gotten away with a horrible crime. If you want to get technical, he’s a serial killer. Wraps everything down with plastic, plastic wraps the victims nude to the table and starts sawing away until they fit nicely into a few plastic bags. As for the story line. There is a “real” serial killer out there they call “The Ice Box Killer” who drains his victims of their blood before cutting all their limbs off and then placing them all nicely in a pattern for the cops to find. Abut 3 episodes into it we find out that the killer has a thing for Dexter and appears to know of Dexter’s secret. I have to say it’s very original and has a new viewer in me. Check it out, Sunday nights.

  1. my thoughts? the “ice box killer” is Dexter. He’s living out 2 personalities. His adopted dad taught him to channel his urges, yet there is still that subconcious that thirsts for blood.

    Dexter is tailing himself.

  2. OMG you are so right. It’s like the “Fight Club” effect. I love that idea. I’ll keep that in mind when I watch the next episode.
