What you went through sounds all too familiar to me! I wonder which store you had to go through for the Sanyo repair shop? I bought my Fuji at Best Buy. I have some recent articles in my blog detailing the experience if you want to read them. The summary is that I had to take my Fuji camera in to Best Buy for them to send out… get this… Four fucking times!!! For the same issue! The second through fourth time, I tested the camera in front of their happy-ass Geek Squad and told them I wanted a damn refund. They kept insisting that it be sent for repair due to the No-Lemon part of the warranty contract.
After all that, though, I got a new camera as reimbursement for the old one. That’s the last entry on my blog. Well, soon to be second-to-last on the blog after today.
SEO tip…. put “better” titles on the video and blog post… if you’re vlogging about this crap you might as well make it so the Sanyo people will see that the authorized shop should become quickly “de-authorized”
Tag / tittle it up man! SEO’em into getting better CS. That’s part of the game of social media right??
That’s a really good point about renaming the post and maybe add some text to the description using keywords. Xacti E1 Problem Repair Authorized ‘black screen’ ‘black video” disappointed …
I had a bad put-up pool a couple years ago a vlogged about. It’s one of the most watched videos and I am still receiving emails, 2 years later.
That sucks. I have a friend that went through a similar experience with his Canon GL model or XL model, I forget which. He sent it back four or five times, didn’t have use of it for a whole year (but was out his money that whole time). They finally did get the repair done. At that point, his video business had suffered from having only one camera instead of 2 so who knows how much it actually cost him. He sold the repaired camera on eBay and went with Panasonic ever after.
I guess I’m lucky, my battery was the only thing that died on my Xacti. Easily replaced. Good luck with it. If you don’t have a good result after this second time, I will probably not continue to purchase Sanyo cameras. If you follow Adam’s advice, hopefully Sanyo will see that this incident may have a negative impact on future sales.
That sucks.
