Now iPhone Friendly…

That’s right, thanks to a few friends this blog can now be viewed comfortably on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Check it out…

This past weekend I clicked on a link from Tyler Hurst via Twitter on my iPhone and immediately noticed how nice his blog displayed on it. As I moved around his site I found that the whole thing had been formatted for the iPhone. I had to know how he did it! He told me about a plugin called WPTouch. It simply converts your content into an iPhone friendly theme with all of your tags, categories, and comments.

To go along with this great new theme I have my own home screen icon as well. Right around the time of the app store release a few blog posts had come out on how to create your own iPhone icon and Cheryl Colan, a good friend of mine, was feeling generous one night and decided to make me one. I love it!

And finally; it would seem that YouTube embeds have advanced a lot since I last did one. Not only can I embed HD versions of my HD videos but those embeds are clickable and link to the iPhone version of the video. Depending on your connection speed (EDGE, 3G, WiFi) the high res or low res version will play automatically. So that means that not only is my site viewable on the iPhone but so are all my videos. Holy shit! I’m seriously so stoked about this. I will admit that I’m not that excited about using YouTube as my main embed on my blog, but I’m willing to roll with it to have them all viewable on the iPhone.

So check it out. Add the site to your home screen, view the site on your iPhone or iPod Touch and enjoy! And big thanks to all those that helped me make this possible.

  1. Bitching. I’ll never miss a post. Wonder what this looks like in byline?

  2. Hey, I’m glad you got to make use of the icon. It’s so much nicer having that than whatever generic bookmark icon the iPhone generates otherwise. Looking good!
