This Saturday January 23rd I will be speaking at the first ever CenPhoCamp. What is CenPhoCamp you ask?
CenPhoCamp is an unconference designed to bring small, local organizations together with the customers they serve. Unlike a typical seminar, participants are encouraged to ask questions, to leave sessions they don’t think are helpful and even contribute to the learning as they see fit.
I will be speaking on video blogging and video marketing and why both independent contractors and businesses in Phoenix need video on their sites.
Here are the details on the event:
Event: CenPhoCamp
Location: Cronkite School
555 N. Central Avenue
Phoenix, AZ 85004
Date/Time: January 23, 1:30 to 8pm

The man, the myth, the legend that is Chris Brogan is always writing epic blog posts that invoke thought. A while back he came up with a list of topics for us and I plan on going forth on this journey with video. This is the first topic on that list. Chris Brogan’s post: http://bit.ly/8LWnv7
I was riding on a shuttle to the airport this morning and overheard a guy talking to the driver about his trip to Phoenix. I missed the first part of it so I don’t know where this happened but I assume on his flight in. Basically he was saying that he lost both his wallet and his cell phone upon arriving to Phoenix and has been having one hell of time since then. He called the credit card company to stop anyone from using the card but that also means he couldn’t use it so he has no money. Plus he said couldn’t remember anyone’s number so he couldn’t get money wired to him. He was basically shit of luck.
This made me think, could I survive being in a unfamiliar city with no phone and no wallet? Could you? I often say to people that I can pretty much be dropped off anywhere regardless if I’ve ever been there before and be just fine. Buuuuut, that’s with money and with my iPhone. To do that without either is fucking crazy. Now granted, I know a dozen phone numbers or so that I could get a hold of somebody to wire me some money and be ok; but it would still make life very difficult. The fact that this guy couldn’t get a hold of anyone that could send him money is kind of shitty and totally his fault. He mentioned that his flight wasn’t until Tuesday and to bump it up to today would cost him $150. It would seem that he’s going to be here for a while with nothing to do.
